Stamm Foundation News: Resilience, Education, and Health at the Heart of Our Actions

November is a month full of achievements and shared experiences for the Stamm Foundation and its partners. From the completion of major projects to school integration and the fight against malnutrition, here is a look back at our latest initiatives on the ground.

  1. Review and Closure of the "Burundi Buhire" Project: A Lasting Legacy

ree

On November 4th and 5th, the closing workshop of the Burundi Buhire project (launched in December 2022) was held in Buhumuza and Butanyerera, in partnership with Welthungerhilfe (WHH) and funded by the BMZ.

Mrs. Rosalie presented an impressive review of the achievements that have transformed the daily lives of the communities:

Water & Sanitation: Development of 16 water sources, construction of 600 household latrines, and the launch of 30 public latrines.

Community Structures: Support for 60 VSLA groups (Village Savings and Loan Associations) and construction of two daycare centers.

Capacity Building: Training of health workers and “Mamans Lumière” (community mothers).

Although the project is coming to an end, a call has been made to technical services to sustain these accomplishments. Thanks to our implementing partners: ODEB, COPED, and the local administration.

  1. Impact Profile: Chancelyne, a "Mamans Lumière" in Gisoro

ree

The true success of our projects is measured by the lives they transform. On Rusengo Hill, Chancelyne, mother of a two-year-old, has become a pillar of her community thanks to the Burundi Buhire project.

Once uncertain about hygiene and nutrition practices, she received training that changed everything. Today, she identifies signs of malnutrition in neighboring households and refers severe cases to health centers. Her journey perfectly illustrates how parental education saves lives.

  1. Umwizero Project: Dignity and Hygiene for Refugees in Musenyi

ree

At the Musenyi site, which hosts Congolese refugees, public health is a top priority. As part of the Umwizero project, implemented in partnership with IRC and Terre des Hommes, the Stamm Foundation has developed vital infrastructure:

  • Construction of a water reservoir.

  • Installation of latrines.

  • Training of a team of young volunteers dedicated to promoting daily hygiene on the site.

  1. National Advocacy: Towards a Nutritional "Smart Community

ree

On October 23, 2025, an important step was taken during the national workshop organized with Welthungerhilfe Burundi. The goal was to share a strategic document with sectoral ministries to improve the nutrition of women and children.

On behalf of the Stamm Foundation, Mrs. Delphine emphasized the importance of the "Smart Community" approach. This model aims to make each community resilient, aware, and proactive in the fight against malnutrition. This document will now serve as an advocacy tool to positively influence public policies.

  1. Inclusion through Education: Focus on the Batwa Community

ree

The community daycare in Ruganirwa (Muyinga) is much more than a place of learning; it is a tool for social justice. Established to support children from the often marginalized Batwa community, this facility provides them with equitable access to basic education. By breaking barriers from an early age, we enable these children to start primary school smoothly and on an equal footing.

These various initiatives, whether it’s the empowerment of mothers like Chancelyne or the school integration of Batwa children, reflect the same commitment: building a future where no one is left behind. While significant steps were taken this month, the path toward sustainable development continues every day. It is thanks to the dedication of our partners and your support that we can keep sowing these seeds of hope. Together, let’s continue making a difference!
